An electrical safety audit is a comprehensive assessment of an electrical installation's healthiness, the effectiveness of its protection systems, compliance with local and national regulations and standards, and opportunities for improvement of electrical systems to enhance safety, reliability, and energy efficiency.
An electrical safety audit should cover the following:
- Compliance with National Electrical Code 2023, Central Electricity Authority regulations, and respective IS Standards.
- Thermal imaging of electrical installations for identifying anomalies which lead to heat buildup and even fire hazards, overheating of components and equipment due to harmonics or other power quality issues, etc.
- Effectiveness of earthing and equipotential bonding.
- Testing of Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCD) for effective performance and proper connections.
- Lightning protection systems and surge protection systems effectiveness.
- Effectiveness of maintenance management systems and records, etc.
- Effectiveness of LOTO - Lock Out Tag Out systems.
- Tools and tackles inspection and customized area effectiveness check-up if any.
