Electrical safety audit checklist - FAQ
Electrical safety audit checklist should contain the relevant information to verify the compliance to standards, test result values entry of earthing effectiveness tests like RCD testing, Neutral to Earth voltage measurements, earth resistance tests, Portable Appliances Test - PAT tests, Thermal images and digital images of anomalies etc. The Electrical safety audit checklist must be customised and cover the entire area of facilities which includes Electrical rooms, panel boards, Field distribution boards and equipment.
A customised electrical safety audit checklist containing the specific questions related to each location / equipment will have more effectiveness.
For Eg. An Electrical control may have a Transformer, Main Switch Board ( MSB ), Sub Switch Boards ( SSB ), Power Control Centers ( PCC) , Motor Control Centers ( MCC), Automatic Power Factor Control Panel ( APFC) and / or many similar equipment or systems. The checklist must contain each and every such equipment and unique questions related to each one to make the checklist more effective.
When thermal imaging is carried out, a specific checklist must be readily available which includes the area of audit, specific location of the equipment, Equipment rating or ID number, feeder parameters and to note down the specific issues related to the anomalies.
In simple terms, a general checklist may provide minimum guarantee for the audits but a customised specific checklist will be more effective and covers the entire aspects of electrical safety audits.
